Dr José Ferrer is a medical doctor whose work spans family medicine, emergency care and the integration of emerging technologies into healthcare and medical education.
Originally trained in Brazil, he studied Medicine and General Surgery at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco before completing his specialisation in Family and Community Medicine in Spain at Badalona Serveis Assistencials (BSA).
Alongside his clinical background, José has pursued further work in emergency medicine, acupuncture and holistic approaches to patient care, exploring how medical systems can respond more fully to human wellbeing and lived experience.
Since 2021, he has been involved in pioneering the use of virtual reality in healthcare and medical education, leading and supporting projects focused on burnout, chronic pain management, pre-surgical anxiety and healthcare training.
As Project Manager for Clinical and Research Projects at BSA, his work explores the relationship between technology, medicine and human-centred care, with a particular interest in how emerging technologies can support both patient wellbeing and healthcare professionals themselves.
