Dr. Vicky Charisi is a Research Scientist at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology and a Research Affiliate at Harvard University’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society.
Her work explores child development in the context of artificial intelligence and robotic systems, with a particular focus on how human interaction with intelligent technologies shapes learning, behaviour, human flourishing and social transformation.
Working across research, design and policy, Vicky examines how emerging technologies interact with children’s cognitive, emotional and social development, and how AI systems can be designed responsibly, ethically and inclusively for younger generations.
Her research has been published in leading academic journals and international conferences, and includes collaborations with organisations such as the Honda Research Institute. She also contributes to international advisory work on artificial intelligence and generative AI literacy, including through initiatives connected to the United Nations.
Prior to her work at MIT and Harvard, Vicky was a Research Scientist at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, where she examined the societal implications of artificial intelligence from a science-for-policy perspective.
